This recording is dedicated to James Sparks, a long time member of Shanklin Town Youth Brass Band, who sadly died in June 2009 aged 17.

These songs were played at his memorial concert, held on what would have been his 18th birthday, where the Youth Band played tribute to their friend by playing a selection of his favourite pieces. James particularly liked The Great Escape, a tune he was often heard to whistle when leaving hospital, Ticket To Ride, which reflected his other great passion - steam trains, and his favourite tune that he played with the band, Lord of The Dance..

James learnt to play cornet with the band as an aid to improving his breathing, which was hindered by his Cystic Fibrosis. He eventually became the Youth Band's Repiano Cornet player and won the Best Youth Instrumentalist at the SCABA Spring Contest at Hove in 2008.
